Quite often teenage girls simply need someone to talk to and guide them through the challenges of growing up. Career choices, boyfriends, parents, peer pressure to conform, identity and remaining true to self are just some of the life issues young girls may struggle with during the often difficult transition to adulthood..  We believe every teenage girl deserves to have a BIG SISTER on her side, a trusted guide, someone who has been there, done that and got the T-shirt! We know it can make all the difference.

Big sisters are recruited from all walks of life but what is fundamental to their involvement is their deeply-felt desire to support a young girl age 13 –18 for a minimum duration of 12 months. The mentoring takes the form of an hour’s meeting once a month and all Big Sisters are trained, monitored and supported throughout by the Girls Out Loud team.

Alongside our 12 month structured BIG SISTER programme from 2010 we introduced a BIG SISTER SPEED MENTORING EVENT - Role Model Relay.
